Health & Safe Delivery

At the core of our work is the MAMA Maternity and Wellness Center, providing antenatal, skilled birth, and postnatal care. We work closely with trained CHPs and TBAs, collaborating with the sub-county health office and community leadership. With community advocacy, we now have a dedicated midwife and a volunteer clinical officer. Our goal is to expand from 200 to 500 annual deliveries and build a fully equipped referral center.

Wellness & Support

Our center is a safe space for women and girls to access health education, peer counseling, and psychosocial support. We offer training in areas such as SRHR, beekeeping, business, table banking, and youth engagement, creating holistic support systems for resilience and wellbeing.

Sustainability through MAMA Honey

Through our MAMA Honey initiative, we train women and youth in sustainable beekeeping. With 11 active hives and plans to expand to 40, we aim to build a full honey processing and packaging line, generate community income, and reinvest profits back into maternal care.

Maternal Aid for Mothers in Africa (MAMA CBO) is a grassroots organization based in Orus, Tiaty East, Baringo County, Kenya. We work to reduce maternal and child mortality through community-led healthcare, indigenous knowledge, and sustainable livelihoods.

Founded in 2017 by Winnie Kiprotich, a communications expert, and her mother Janet, a seasoned midwife, MAMA was born from a deeply personal experience. What began as a response to that crisis has grown into a transformative movement for maternal and child health justice.

In 2023, with the help of our partner Altro Foundation, we constructed the solar-powered MAMA Maternity and Wellness Center, now averaging 200 safe deliveries annually, with some days recording up to four births. The center serves over 10 remote villages within an 80–100 km radius, providing access to skilled care where none existed before.
